Let’s start with most of you get remind texts from me – and the last one most of you received was May 1st. I have to say I have cursed most of you for not showing up to help get open or donate for weeks, until we realized Remind has changed their policies. We are working hard to come up with a way for me to text but for now, if you can download the Remind App and turn on notifications – my messages will get to you. If you had previously been a apart of remind your messages should go there. If you hadn’t been a part of remind before sign up by texting @Devon7 to 81010 but you must have the app and notifications.
Speaking of donations, seeing most of membership missed donating your time and energy – we ask you to make a monetary donation to help offset some costs.
We have had a very busy off season! Cassandra Kruse, the treasurer has just been amazing in assisting in getting bids and quotes and work started and finished. The amount of hours we have spent at Devon the past couple of months really is overwhelming. But most of the projects are done and we are ready for a great summer!
- New roof put on the pavilion, building and pump house
- New pool heater installed by our friends at Love Heating and Air and has been cranking! These cold nights are tough
- New plumbing- working with our friends at Vasey – lots of roots were impacting so much of the plumbing – please be aware of us trying to grow grass up by building.
- 3 new toilets
- New water line run all the way to pump house- dug and installed by Walker Irrigation. Again pay attention to us trying to grow grass in lawn heading to tennis.
- New concrete work on deck – the bad spots have been dug up and filled in.
- Pool walls repaired and painted – the pool was filled on Sat May 10th
- New freezer in the concession stand
- All new chairs for the wooden deck
- 40 new chaise lounges for pool deck
- Several new picnic tables under the pavilion
- New iPads for check in and concessions
- Lastly, you will not be able to miss our Sail Shade section constructed along the fence facing the fire pit. Picture Blind Owl patio and be ready for a section of shade when you need it!
All our concrete work has been done by 2 amazing workers I have worked with the past two years – Asher Bennington 765-438-5079 and Tim Devlin 317-443-2832 – if you are in the market or need work, think of these two. They are handy men who do so much!! And I appreciate all their hard work.
Now that you have read all the work that has gone on let’s re-think making a donation! Trying to keep Devon the best it can be is not an easy task!! And I hope you are all excited about the new improvements!
The Devon Hours will be the same this season as last.
Sun-Thursday 11a-9p
Fri-Sat – 10:30-9p
Membership Cards, Caregivers and Guest Passes
Devon will continue to be all electronic – for check in and concessions. The concessions will continue to use a credit card or Apple Pay.
Every member on your membership over 13 will have a card they can download, as 13 is the age you need to be to be at Devon alone.
Downloading the membership card is easy. From your phone, follow these three steps.
1 – Click the button below or visit https://www.devoncc.org/membership/get-card/
2 – Search for your cards using your Membership ID (7-digit primary phone number) or the primary email on your membership
For example, if your phone number is (317) 555-1212
then your Membership ID is 5551212
3 – Click on your name to add the card to your phone
Please have your cards downloaded when first coming to Devon, or the guards at the front will be able to assist you.
Once you have your cards downloaded you can go onto the website and add a caregiver pass or guest passes. Remember guest passes are needed for every guest 2+ regardless if they are swimming or not. Guests are $5 M-F and $10 on Sat/Sun. We recommend buying 10 for $50 so then no matter when you come its $5. These guest passes will be stored on your account and you will scan to use them at the desk.
A few reminders about guests:
- Members cannot use guest passes for anyone in their immediate family/living in their home
- All guests must be accompanied by a member upon entry – no guests will be ushered in by saying they are meeting a member. Plan accordingly
Devon Seahorses are back in action!
The sign up for Swim Team is up on the website. Being a Devon Seahorse or Seacolt really is a great way to get involved, meet new friends and feel apart of the community.
Tennis and Swim Lessons
Tennis lessons are back this year!!!! You do not have to be a Devon member to sign up for Tennis lessons, so get some friends and lets go!
We are excited to welcome our new Instructor – Adam Koon. Adam just finished his freshman year at University of Southern Indiana where he played Division 1 tennis. Adam is a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School where he was first team all state and an IHSAA State Qualifier. Adam has spent the last two summers learning from WTA coah Graham McMullen .

More information is available on the registration page.
We are also excited to have Indy Water Watchers back to supply swim lessons to our members!
Swim lessons are in very high-demand so you must be a Devon member in order to sign up for swim lessons. Lessons are offered to anyone between the ages of 3-15, and are being offered at either a morning (10:30-11am) section or evening (6-6:30pm). We have availability for both June and July classes, but each class/section is limited to 15 participants.
Party / Pavilion Reservations
We love members wanting to have parties at Devon! Please check the party policy and booking page
to check availability. The reservation fee includes two tables in the pavilion, but you must also have a guest pass on your account for each member of your party. If you are going to have 10 or more non-members joining you then you must reserve your party in advance. Parties are only allowed Monday – Friday and dates may be limited based on swim meets and other club activities.
Lifeguards and Rules
We are welcoming back Meg McGinley this year as the Club Manager and are excited to have her and Indy Water Watchers to help run the daily operations. We also have lots of new lifeguards this year at Devon, so I ask you all to be kind as we all get used to a new summer.
Devon Rules:
- No food, candy or glass off the wooden deck. Need a red solo cup for your glass beer bottle ask at concessions.
- When buying ice, make sure you pay for it at the concession stand before taking it out.
- If standing in the pools with a drink (adults) keep your drinks on the edge – not in the middle of the pool
- If playing in the deep end must be behind the red line.
- If someone is swimming laps, please keep your children out of the lap lane.
- For good measure – no running on deck –
- Lifeguards are there to be lifeguards, not babysitters. Had a lot of issues last year with children really running crazy – from the volleyball courts, to tennis courts to misbehaving under the pavilion. I certainly don’t want the guards worrying about disciplining kids instead of monitoring the pool. I beg of you – please review the pool rules with your kids which are posted several places. If you need me or a guard to review with your kids we would be happy to do just that – but parents please help us out!
Lots of important information in here. I so hate I haven’t been able to really communicate with you all with the text debacle~! But do know we are working on a solution. I will be posting on Facebook and Instagram as well as sending messages to the Remind App! If you need me text me at 317-709-8041 or email me at molcarnes@aol.com.
We will be updating the calendar soon with some of the fun social activities we have scheduled.
Thank you to some members who somehow were getting the messages and showed up continuously – McCallum Family, Jay Christy, Alex Dittmer, Hair Family, Joe Walker, Joe Thomas, Howell Family, Mike Block and I know there were others so thank you!!
So very excited to see so many faces I have missed over the winter months and spend another summer at Devon!
