We are more than half way through Devon Summer 2025 – wow the weeks are flying by. I cannot believe school starts for some on July 31st. That being said, want to keep everyone in the loop of what’s to come.
First and foremost thank you all for making this a great season so far. We have a lot of new members and I am hoping they are enjoying their time at Devon.
I want to give a few shout outs for helping make 4th of July one of the best days of the year. I know Devon is special but my favorite every year is talking to new members who are getting to experience the magic of the Devon 4th- I often hear phrases like “stuff like this doesn’t happen anywhere else” or “I feel like I have stepped back in time” I know it’s a day that has something for everyone. Thank you to the lifeguards for all their hard work – they smile when I pull out all the decorations and just dig in! For how busy the day is, I felt like everything went very smoothly and safe!

Mark Trausch and Love Heating and Air were back as our Fireworks sponsor – thank you! In order to have the day we have we rely on members to buy all those raffle tickets and auction items – in order to buy prizes for kids games and the water balloon toss and subsidize the fireworks! Thank you to all of you who supported. Cassandra Kruse is always by my side supporting and helping make the day better – could not do it without her. Thank you Anna Trent for heading up kids games – loved seeing all the smiles. Lisa Martin for heading up the small buy mighty tennis tourney – as always a fun time for everyone. Peter DeFazio with his crew of Gavin Frost and John Mills to put on that spectacular fireworks display! Devon as you all know is a 100% volunteer run organization – without people stepping up to help days like the 4th could not happen.
Bathrooms – Please Read
From a highlight to a lowlight – the bathrooms. I HATE to have to highlight this here, but not sure what else to do. Parents I am begging you to have some real conversations with your kids or escort them to the bathroom. We paid a pretty penny for really nice new toilets right before the season started. I had to have plumbers back out 3 times already to work on the toilets. His last trip for both in the boys bathroom he said the only way they are how they are is if they are being abused. For goodness sakes, what is going on in there?? And ladies, please, please, please, do not put anything but toilet paper down the toilets. Putting my head in the pit is probably my least favorite thing in the world but the plumbers insist on showing me what is in there claiming that is what is hurting us.
Still on the bathrooms, as I reference the pit above – we have had a pipe explode in the bottom of the pit. I believe it is 30 years old, so no real shocker. But we have to dig a new one, put all new pumps and piping. This is going to be a 3 day (very expensive) project – that if we don’t make it to the end of the season, I would most likely have to close the pool down as we won’t have water. Shutting the pool for 3 days is the last thing I would ever want to do – so everyone please be aware when using the restrooms. Just toilet paper, stop abusing the toilets (whatever that could be) and let’s get to the end of the season before the work needs done!
Housekeeping Items
- Check lost and found and take your stuff home
- If you didn’t put it in the pavilion fridge/freezer do not eat or drink it – parents make sure your kids know this to. Really amazed people help themselves. Also please clean your items out before you leave for the day.
- When you have a drink in the pool it must stay on the side or very close to the side
- Swim team t-shirts for sale $16 – we have mostly adult sizes left. Ask at desk
